What is a label?

Overview

As part of our compliance checks, our Compliance Team will need to conduct a Product Label Review. This is the initial product compliance stage, and must be carried out before proceeding with your Responsible Person (RP) service.
In this guide, we will provide some clear guidance on what a label is, so you can confidentially upload the correct label documents to your Expandly Portal, for the Team to review.

What is a label?

A Label is the information on the outer packaging which the end customer will hold in their hand. It is not a care label nor a SKU label or barcode.
The label includes all the key information available to the consumer such as:
  1. Product details
  2. Ingredients
  3. Usage information
  4. Branding
In short, anything that helps your customer understand what the products is, what is does, and how.

What should I provide, that will be sufficient for the Compliance Team to carry out my label review?

We need to see the full digital print ready art work, which is printed on the box, poly bag and other form of packaging used to hold your product.

We can accept pictures if the are a high enough quality, clear and show ALL sides of the product.

To summarise
  1. We strongly recommend uploading the digital artwork where possible, as this provides the clearest version of your label
  2. The label provided is in English
  3. We can accept images, which are clear and not blurry
  4. All text must be readable
  5. No information should be cut off or obscured.
Please Note: If our Compliance Team is unable to clearly read the label, it may be rejected – which can cause delays. So taking a moment to check the quality before uploading can really help move things along smoothly.

What is the minimum font size I can use on my label?

  1. All logos have a minimum size requirement of 5 mm.
  2. You must print all the mandatory information using a font with a minimum height x-height of 1.2 mm
  3. If the largest surface area of packaging is less than 80 cm square, you can use a minimum x-height of 0.9 mm
