How are tariffs handled for website transactions?

It’s important to note that VAT and import tariffs are separate charges:

VAT is collected at checkout on your website and is the tax paid by the customer on the sale.

Import tariffs (customs duties) are not included in the VAT collected at checkout. These are handled separately and are typically collected at the point of import at the U.K. border. The amount depends on the product classification and value.

The best contact to advise on how import tariffs are calculated and collected for your shipments is your shipping carrier or freight forwarder, as they manage the import process and liaise with U.K. customs.

We do have our logistics partner, GEL, who can help with your shipment needs so please get in touch should you wish to explore this in more detail.
