Important Update: EPR Registration delays across Europe - July 2026

Important Update: EPR Registration delays across Europe - July 2026

Overview

As the 12 August 2026 implementation date for the Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) approaches, we are seeing a significant rise in Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) registration applications being submitted across Europe.

As a result, processing times at several Producer Responsibility Organisations (PROs) and national authorities have increased.

These delays sit outside the control of both Expandly and our clients.

Where delays are caused by a PRO or a national authority, Expandly will support you by providing evidence of your ongoing registration and helping you demonstrate that the necessary steps have been taken towards compliance.

Our priority remains ensuring your registration progresses as efficiently as possible, with ongoing support from our team throughout the process.

What should you do now?

If you have not yet started your registration, we recommend beginning the process and submitting your application as soon as possible.

If your registration has already been submitted or is currently being processed, no further action is required at this time. Please continue to monitor your application, retain any confirmation emails or supporting documents, and respond promptly if we request any additional information.

Several major online marketplaces have publicly acknowledged the current registration delays and confirmed that ongoing applications affected by external processing constraints may be assessed on a case-by-case basis.

Registration processing times are determined by Producer Responsibility Organisations (PROs), national authorities and online marketplaces, and remain outside Expandly’s control. While we cannot guarantee individual enforcement decisions, we will provide reasonable support and evidence of your ongoing registration process where possible and requested.

If you have any questions or require assistance, please get in touch with the Expandly OnBoarding Team, who will be happy to support you wherever possible.
